Who is Kristen? Learn more about your new English Speaking Nutritionist in Germany!

Born and raised in the United States (specifically, outside of Philadelphia), I always longed for adventure. From a young age, I had a love for traveling and learning from people of different cultures.

In September 2021, my husband, our adorable cat, and I made the move to Hamburg, Germany. The goal was to have a change of scenery, seek adventure, and discover a new way of living. After almost 2 years of living in Hamburg, I fall more in love with the city every day.

It's me! Hi!

Professionally, I am a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Licensed Dietitian-Nutritionist (LDN) in the state of Pennsylvania. In short, you can call me a Nutritionist. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Human Nutrition.

To be a credentialed Registered Dietitian, I completed 1200 hours of supervised practice. Most of my prior working experience has been in children's and adult hospitals conducting research and seeing 1:1 clients.

The journey of becoming a Registered Dietitian is long but oh-so rewarding. (Are you looking for guidance on how to become a Registered Dietitian in the United States? Are you not sure where to start? Send me an email and I am happy to chat!).

Where do I find my passion for nutrition counseling?

After completing my studies, I jumped into the clinical dietitian world. I worked as a Clinical Registered Dietitian at The Renfrew Center in Philadelphia. Here, I worked with young adults struggling with eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder). This is where I found my passion to educate about the Intuitive Eating (IE) and Health At Every Size (HAES) frameworks.

My passion to work as a Registered Dietitian stems from a desire to help others. More specifically, I aim to help others connect with their body and mind again.

In today’s society, we are flooded with new information. Every day, you hear a new nutrition tip or a new fad diet. Instagram influencers, celebrities, and other non-credible sources promote these nutrition "tips" on social media for you to consume.

I became a Registered Dietitian to be a credible source for you!

What is my Nutrition Philosophy?

A summary of my nutrition philosophy is: “Reconnect with your intuition, embrace your body, and nourish yourself without judgment.”

I have 4 core values that guide my overall nutrition philosophy:

1) Weight Inclusivity

Using the Health At Every Size (HAES) framework, research proves health can be achieved at any weight or size. During our sessions, your weight will not be the main focus. Instead, we will focus on your lifestyle, your core beliefs about food, thoughts about body image, and intuitive eating education. The goal is to connect with your body again!

2) Client Centered

No one is ever “one size fits all” – and neither are my nutrition recommendations! Most diets are not individualized, which is why they are not sustainable. Eating behavior and mental health are closely tied. In our sessions, we can discuss your current life, your motivation to change, and your food preferences to find solutions that fit you.

3) Anti-Diet Approach

Following a restrictive diet does not work. You will not achieve sustainable results by following a diet! I have the nutrition philosophy that “all foods fit” in a healthy diet. You will not need to remove foods you enjoy eating in order to achieve realistic health results. Eating without judgment is possible!

4) Evidence-Based

As a nutritionist and Registered Dietitian, I am motivated to stay up-to-date on modern research to support clients. I am committed to continuous education and learning to provide you with evidence-based recommendations. Your health is important and your body deserves care – seeing a professional dietitian can help you achieve your goals!
